Breakfast has always meant something entirely different to me than what its derivation defines. Breakfast means ‘the breaking of your fast after last nights dinner’. For me, breakfast should be renamed ‘Breakslow’. We get so caught up with being in a big hurry every morning, we either shove cold pizza in our mouths as we run out the door or don’t eat breakfast at all. Even a quick yogurt and granola is a good idea before you dash out into the busy world! So, for the sake of all that is delicious, slow the fuck down! I promise you that if you wake up just 30 minutes earlier to enjoy your breakfast, the rest of your day will be awesome. If you already wake up 30 minutes earlier to glue on eyelashes or work out, then add another 15 minutes! In turn, you won’t be flipping off the person who wouldn’t let you on the highway safely, you will give that driver a ‘Mentos’ smile. Slow down and enjoy your food!
I am steadily working on the breakfast section of the BFT Cookbook, and I have to say that recipe development for breakslow is becoming quite the task. There are a few recipes that will for sure want to be reserved for weekends when you will have more time to cook. I am finding that I need to learn how to measure ingredients so that all of YOU out there will be able to duplicate my recipes! What a novel idea, right!?!?!? I have never learned how to do that shit! I’m the “add a pinch of this, add a bit of that” girl and expect that you’ll get the same outcome as I do! I’ve come to the painful realization that that won’t work….especially if I want to sell a cookbook or two…. wish me luck! I love words of encouragement!
